Previously a partner at a Big 4 professional services firm for more than 25 years, Jan lead cybersecurity consulting projects for large global organizations. He is now an independent cybersecurity strategy advisor to boards and executives.
Achievements include Top 100 CISO’s globally in 2017 and 2022, and awarded 'Innovator of the Year' by SANS Institute in 2022. In 2023, he was awarded the Chief Security Officer Top 30 (CSO30) for the third consecutive year, including receiving the first inaugural Leadership award for CSO30. A former Group CISO four times, including S&P Global (formally Markit), Qantas Airlines, Standard Chartered Bank, IBM. Finally, Darren’s mentorship was instrumental in the launch of an innovative cyber software business, which is expected to exit with a valuation in excess of $100m.
Phil is an international keynote speaker, multi-award winning virtual CISO and bestselling author. He is an official member of Forbes Business Council, an Invitation-Only Global Community for Successful Business Owners and Leaders. He was named one of 2020’s Top 100 Most Influential People of African Descent (New York USA), as well as 2017 winner of ISACA International’s Best Article Award (Chicago, USA). I'm excited to have continued my passion for learning alongside a competent community of cyber leaders. Stoked to have accomplished this shiny, new badge; however, as they say, it is the journey that is more fulfilling than getting to the destination.
